Orient Craft, one of the leading apparel exporters of India, has kicked off its new unit in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Situated in the Hotwar industrial area, the new factory of 2,000 machines was inaugurated by the State Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
The company is aggressively expanding in the state as this is the second unit in Ranchi while the third one is under progress. Notably, around 500 differently abled people will be employed in the upcoming unit that took 2 years to get completed.
Reportedly, around Rs. 150 crore has been invested in this project.The unit, which is working for M&S and GAP,has some value additions to like in-house embroidery.
In the long run, this unit will provide jobs to around 10,000 workers; currently, 3,000 women are working in this unit.
Appreciating the efforts of Orient Craft, CM Raghubar Das claimed that Jharkhand has the best apparel policy in India. Sudhir Dhingra, CMD, Orient Craft said “It seems our dreams have got shape.” He added “We are impressed by the support from Government and administration of Ranchi.”
Orient Craft is active in Ranchi since last 3 years when it started operation in Irba (25 kms from Ranchi).
Apart from Orient Craft, Arvind Ltd. and Kishor Exports, Agra too have their organised and operational factories in the state. The unit of Shahi Exports is under construction, while few other exporters are running their training centres in the state.
Soon, Jharkhand may have apparel factories by Chinese companies too. State CM Raghuvar Das shared that a Chinese delegation met him and showed interest to invest in the apparel and shoe industry. Around 7 acres of land have been finalised for Chinese companies. The State Government is expecting more than 1,00,000 job opportunities in the apparel manufacturing sector. Besides, a girls’ hostel is also under process.
