Tamil Nadu has been continuously supporting the textile industry in the state!
The State Government will soon establish a mega textile park, which is likely to come up in Virudhunagar and would be under the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel Parks (MITRA) scheme.
It is worth stating that the State Government has submitted a proposal to the Union Government for the park under the PM MITRA scheme and is expecting to get an approval for the same.
Tamil Nadu’s handlooms and textiles department is contemplating establishing a textile city in Chennai. The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 1 crore to conduct a feasibility study and submit a detailed project report in this regard.
R Gandhi, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, shared this information in Tamil Nadu assembly. He further added that the Government would also take measures to establish ‘Tamil Nadu pavilion’ in international textile fairs to promote the products from the state.
A technical advisory committee, comprising experts from the sector, would be created to aid the industry to flourish.
With hubs like Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode and Salem, Tamil Nadu is one of the leading states in India’s textile and apparel industry having production of most of the items in textile supply chain.
