Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Union Minister of State for Textiles, chaired an interactive session with key stakeholders of Tamil Nadu’s textile sector in Chennai.
Roop Rashi, Textiles Commissioner; Dharmendra Yadav, Principal Secretary of Tamil Nadu and other state officials were also present in the meeting.
After the meeting, the Minister said that it was a highly productive meeting with an excellent exchange of ideas.
The meeting took place at a time when Tamil Nadu is facing the scarcity and increasing prices of raw cotton,which has posed a major challenge to the functioning of the textile industry.
She also delivered the convocation address at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai. The Minister gave away gold medals, cash awards and merit certificates to students. Nearly 268 students were awarded degrees at the 10th convocation.
In the last one month, this is Darshana Jardosh’s second visit of Tamil Nadu.
