VDMA – a leading Germany-based Textile Machinery Association – is organising a technology webtalk on 2 September 2021 – Textile Reinforced Concrete  The Future of Sustainable Building.

It’s pertinent to mention here that concrete is the most used construction material in building industry worldwide, but is also the main driver for CO²-emissions. According to VDMA, textile concrete is clearly superior to classic reinforced concrete both economically and functionally.

“Textile concrete products are lighter and thinner, requiring up to 80 per cent less concrete compared to classic reinforced concrete due to the corrosion-free nature of textile reinforcements,” said VDMA.

The one-and-half-hour-long webtalk will see presentations on three relevant topics, followed by a QA session. The welcome address will be given by Boris Abadjieff of VDMA Textile Machinery Association.

The first topic that will be discussed by Dr. Magdalena KimmITA – Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University is “Production technologies for textile reinforced concrete  today and tomorrow,” wherein typical production technologies and textile reinforcements will be shown as well as their dependencies on the intended application. An outlook on future production technologies, as 3D-printing of concrete and fiber reinforcements, will also be given.

The second session will be taken care of by Dr. Christian Kulas from Solidian who will throw lights on “Non-metallic reinforcement for sustainable concrete applications.” The presentation will show what kind of reinforcements are on the market already, which are future possibilities as well as obstacles in today’s building industry.

In the third session, Mohit Raina of Raina Industries will discuss “Eco-system for Textile Reinforced Concrete applications in the Building and Construction Sector in India and South East Asia.” The session will highlight how new-age solutions can help India and many South East Asian countries that face serious challenges with corrosion of conventional reinforcement due to the tropical climate.

As webtalk ends, Thomas Waldmann of VDMA Textile Machinery Association will handle QA session.
