Kidswear brand Tales & Stories planning 80 stores in the next 3 years

Indian branded kidswear market seems divided into two kinds of brands- top global brands, and local brands. There is a gap between medium to higher kinds of brands. Tales & Stories, 3 years old Indian kidswear brand, backed by 4 decades old company Artex Apparels, Ahmedabad is successfully trying to fill this gap. Currently, having 20 stores, mainly in Gujarat, the brand has aggressive planning to add 80 stores in the next 3 years.

The parent company Artex Apparels, having 700 machines and producing more than one lakh pieces per month is generating 60 per cent of its total revenue from export but now the company is focussing more on its own brand. The brand is currently contributing nearly 20 per cent to the total business while rest 20 per cent is producing for the top Indian retailers like Reliance Trends, Lifestyle etc.

Praful Shah, Chairman, and CEO of the company told Apparel Resources, “In future, we see more growth in Indian retail so we are focussing more on our brand and retail presence. We have a roadmap to achieve our target of having a total of 100 stores by 2021 and things are taking shape as per our planning.”

With advance infrastructure and focus on product development, brand is working to explore what exactly his target customer needs. Adding value to the products is a continuous process for the brand.

Talking about the export scenario Praful adds that the situation is going to be challenging always but the current cold war between China and the US should help to get little more business. “We have some feedback that apparel import from Bangladesh is not going to be a long-term challenge for Indian manufacturers as various industry associations have given strong presentations in this regard and Government is well aware of this challenge,” he added.
