Inviya – The New Freedom Fibre, which is the only brand of spandex being produced in India and subcontinent, has commenced commercial production after completing second phase of capacity expansion at its plant in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. It has achieved this milestone within a record period of 13 months, after groundbreaking ceremony in October 2016.

This expansion and debottlenecking of previous capacity shall take annual capacity of Inviya to approx 10,000 MT at the Baddi plant. Indorama Industries Limited (a part of Singapore based Indorama Corporation) will continue to invest further in phases to achieve annual capacity of 30,000 MT by 2022, at Baddi.

“Inviya continues to gain ground in the Indian market amidst severe competition from well-known international producers of this product. This is due to its just-on-time service, shortest lead time, and developmental activities in close cooperation with supply chain partners,” a press release said.

“Inviya’s focus on apparel and clothing solution shall continue, as it has geared up to work directly with retailers in clothing and fashion space. Most of the well-known companies in the textile manufacturing chain work with Inviya and those are serviced by sales and application development team,” the release added.

Currently, Inivya has customer interface teams at Tiruppur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Delhi NCR and Chandigarh and it is going to add Kolkata to the list.

Inivya is a well-accepted brand in international markets, though it primarily caters to the rising demand of spandex in India, contributing to the ‘Make in India’ campaign. It has unique facility of R&D plant at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh, which is a small polymerisation with daily capacity of 1200 kg. This facility provides great flexibility to make polymer improvisations to achieve desired properties in the final product and also to cater to new customer needs.

Spandex is a functional textile raw material, which is used in small proportion to impart properties of stretch and recovery in garments. The demand for spandex in India is propelled by young population of country, which aims for active lifestyle and indulgence in sporting activities, besides growing acceptance of casual clothing in workwear, which is well supported by organised retail growth.
