Quality Knit Wears (India) increases kidswear capacity by 35%

Quality Knit Wears Pvt. Ltd., a leading knitwear garment export house based in Madurai and Tirupur (India), has increased its production capacity by 35 per cent in one of its factories.

The capacity expansion has come timely as overseas buyers are moving to India to increase sourcing of apparels and related products.

The company feels the latest expansion comes as a strategic decision, and gradually, it will go for more capacity building to cater to global buyers’ shift towards India, especially Tamil Nadu state.

Quality Knit Wears mainly caters to the EU market and the capacities of kidswear such as baby bodies, kids’ outerwear, jumpers and rompers etc. are added for one of its new clients located in Italy.

“We previously used to make 110,000 pieces in one of our Madurai-based factories and, with this expansion in kidswear, our capacity has gone to over 140,000 pieces per month,” told Amrutesh Jaghuva, Executive Director, Quality Knit Wears while talking to Apparel Resources.

Since the production capacity has boosted, Amrutesh informed that there was a need for another automatic cutter in the factory to increase cutting capacities as well and match production.

“We have bought a new IMA automatic cutter again, while we already have a couple of cutters of IMA already,” stated Amrutesh, adding, “We were previously planning to add a woven factory but we then gave a thorough thought on this plan and came up with a decision that woven is not our expertise so we went ahead with expansion plan in knitwear only.”

It’s worth noting here that Quality Knit Wears, with its strategic expansion plans for its clients located mainly in Italy and Spain, has taken its turnover to nearly Rs. 100 crore in FY ’22 from Rs. 75 crore in FY ’19.
